Cinephiles Won’t Want to Miss Filmfest DC, Starting April 25

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for cinephiles in the DMV. FilmFest DC, the region’s biggest annual international film festival is here once again, and it’s slated to feature 80 films from nearly 50 different countries over 11 days in theaters across the city.

This year’s carefully curated program showcases films that run the gamut from quirky indie comedies, experimental shorts, midnight-movie thrillers, to hard-hitting documentaries. The festival kicks off at the AMC Mazza Gallerie at 7 p.m. on April 25 with a screening of Ladies in Black, followed by a reception sponsored by the Australian Embassy. Another highlight of the festival is sure to be the Foodflix category, which highlights films about famous chefs, world-class sommeliers, and the recipes that carry the weight of generations. If local film is more your thing, check out the world premiere of DC Noir on Saturday, May 4. See the website for the full lineup of films and ticketing information.
